Welcome from the Principal
Wentworth College offers a comprehensive and academically rigorous curriculum where every child is educated to achieve his or her fullest potential. A culture of achievement exists within the College where we celebrate excellence in performance and applaud participation and dedication.
Wentworth College offers the best of a traditional education with emphasis on core values and principles which filter through all spheres of College life. Our mission is to blend pro ven successful educational beliefs into an educational environment that prepares our students to be high achievers in a world of constant change, driven by today's rapid technological advances.
Our teachers are the school's most important resource. The generous provision of specialist teachers and teaching facilities enables students to work to their highest possible standards and to meet personal and academic challenges with confidence. Wentworth teachers know the students well and value their partnership with parents in providing breadth of learning for all students. Wentworth aims for students to be confident, articulate young adults with advanced communication skills and qualifications to successfully pursue future tertiary or vocational opportunities.
This environment is supported by a strong pastoral care to assist in the nurturing of each student. An effective House system is central to all aspects of educational life at Wentworth. House Leaders and House Tutors support and encourage students to pursue the many exciting opportunities available at Wentworth, especially in leadership and service roles. A positive, competitive House and school spirit is fostered, and students rapidly develop a sense of belonging and pride in their school. There are many opportunities for all students to successfully participate in House competitions and co-curricular activities.
Small classes are another significant educational feature that ensure outstanding teaching and quality individual learning. The Wentworth College Trust Board is committed to having class sizes no larger than 25 students. However, the current pupil/teacher ratio is 1:11, with an average class size of approximately 15 students.
All of us at Wentworth College see ourselves as partners in our learning community. We look to an exceptional future for our College and our students. I hope that we may be able to welcome your child to Wentworth to share in the excitement of learning.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the College with you and invite you to visit us at Wentworth.
