We believe that the welfare and care of each student is of paramount importance. Students need close care and support, both inside the classroom and in the wider school community.

The co-educational character of the school is recognised as providing important interrelationship development experiences within a supportive environment. The cornerstone of Wentworth's pastoral care is the House system, designed to foster a sense of belonging and to encourage each student to contribute to the College and thereby build a strong sense of self-worth. The three Houses are divided into smaller tutor groups where close associations are formed and careful monitoring of each student's development in academic, sports, artistic and social endeavour can take place.

House System

• House Leader - overall responsibility for the students in his/her house.
• House Tutor groups - small groups with a teacher as mentor.
• Inter-house Competitions - active inter-House competitive spirit builds camaraderie and the desire to succeed.
• Leadership Expectations - leadership and student support opportunities exist within each house with older students assisting in coaching and mentoring the younger members.
• Service Opportunities - all House groups support a worthwhile charity outside the school in order to develop a sense of community responsibility.

New students are welcomed into Wentworth with a two day orientation programme at the beginning of each year.
