Wentworth College offers a balanced range of academic courses based on the National Curriculum. Academic rigour is expected from all students.

  • The Wentworth staff work as a close team ensuring that all students receive professional, specialised, individual attention.
  • Student progress is closely monitored and reported on.
  • Interim and Semester reports are posted and regular communication between home and school on achievement and progress is encouraged.
  • Students study for the internationally recognised Cambridge examinations.
  • Extension is offered to students with special academic ability
    • Acceleration - the study of one or more subjects at the next year level or at the same level but in greater depth.
    • Specialised projects - students can choose to advance their studies using competitive opportunities such as Mathex Projects, Essay Writing Competitions, Literacy Quiz and the Crest Science Badge awards.
    • Courses of interest - courses such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
    • Competitions - Shakespeare, speech making, University of New South Wales Examinations.
    • Independent Learning - using other educational providers such as the Correspondence School
    • to provide enriched learning.
  • All-round development is an expectation. All students participate in sporting and cultural activities.
  • Expectation of computer literacy - all students sit the ICDL (International Computer Driver's Licence - a comprehensive two year computer course).

Wentworth College appreciates that students need a wide range of skills to equip them for the demands
of living in today's rapidly changing international environment.

Along with social, academic, cultural and sporting skills Wentworth College students are provided with courses that address this modern need.
All students in Year 12 and 13 participate in a Leadership/Management course:

  • Computer literacy skills
  • Financial management and the value of investment
  • Life at tertiary level
  • The value of dedication, determination and persistence

Marine Studies and Golf

With the Hauraki Gulf and Gulf Harbour Marina on its doorstep, Wentworth College will continue to develop its marine 'flavour' with the continued growth of activities such as boating and sailing, and subjects such as boatbuilding, marine ecology, navigation and marine technology. The Hauraki Gulf provides an outstanding educational environment!
Wentworth College is surrounded by the prestigious Gulf Harbour Golf Course. A partnership exists between the college and Gulf Harbour Country Golf Club. Students at the college have the opportunity to extend their golfing ability or to join the Wentworth College Gulf Harbour Country Club Golf Academy and focus on golf as a possible vocation.
