Wentworth was founded in 2003 as an independent, secular, co-educational college for Years Seven to Thirteen. As the only truly independent school in Rodney, Wentworth students come from as far north as Matakana, south to Albany, and west to Kaukapaka.  Wentworth is governed by three guiding principles: high quality education, participation in co-curricular activities and the importance of values and standards.

Academic Excellence
 

The delivery of high quality education is the foundation of the Wentworth College philosophy. A rigorous and challenging curriculum that is well taught is essential if students are to become responsible, well-informed and productive citizens.
 

Sporting and Cultural Involvement
 

All students are expected to take part in sporting, cultural and service activities. Involvement in these activities builds confidence, self-esteem, dedication, loyalty and a strong sense of belonging. There is an extensive range of co-curricular activities in which students can immerse themselves. Sports and the creative arts are special features at the College.

The House system creates a positive environment in which leadership opportunities, personal development and core values are fostered.
