Welcome
Welcome from the Principal
Wentworth College is an independent (private), co-educational school offering a comprehensive and academically rigorous curriculum where every child is educated to achieve to his or her fullest potential. A culture of outstanding achievement exists within the College, where excellence in performance is celebrated, and participation and dedication are applauded.
Situated at the end of the beautiful Whangaparaoa Peninsula, one hour’s drive north of Auckland, Wentworth is located in a truly beautiful part of New Zealand. The Gulf Harbour marina, within walking distance of the College, is a boat-lover’s paradise and currently the wealthiest suburb in New Zealand. Another close neighbour, and one with close links to Wentworth, is the prestigious Gulf Harbour Country Club where elite New Zealand junior golfers practice their craft. Shakespear Park, just 3km away, is a tranquil regional reserve used regularly by Wentworth students for athletics events and family activities in summer. A short boat trip away are the idyllic islands and marine reserves of the Hauraki Gulf, where students learn about New Zealand’s native and introduced flora, fauna and the marine environment.
Private schools in New Zealand are elite schools offering superior educational services. New Zealand parents prepared to invest in a top quality education for their Kiwi children pay almost $13,000 New Zealand dollars per year for their children to attend Wentworth. (The cost of education in ‘State’ schools in New Zealand is around $300 per year.)
Wentworth alumni students attend excellent universities both in New Zealand and overseas. Wentworth has a close relationship with the University of Auckland (one hour’s drive from Wentworth) and Massey University (just 30 minutes away), with special links and opportunities for our students at these universities.
Wentworth warmly welcomes International students from throughout the world. Small class sizes of around 15 students per class, together with a very low number of international students, ensures each child receives individual attention and is encouraged to interact fully with their classmates. Group work in the classrooms, together with enjoyable sporting programmes, further encourage teamwork and interaction between international and Kiwi students. Carefully selected families offer a caring home-stay environment ensuring international students feel safe and accepted, both at home and at school.
We welcome the opportunity to give you more information about our school, and to discuss the possibility of your child attending Wentworth. Please contact our International Student Director, Mrs Natasha Duffett
for further information.
