Emotional Intelligence

A special feature of Wentworth College is the understanding of the importance of emotional intelligence in educating students for future tertiary studies and career opportunities and advancement. The ability for students to develop excellent inter-personal skills is vital for success in business. The ability to working in team environments, confidently speak in public and the ability to work along side and manage people are skills that are essential for the future. At Wentworth these skills and characteristics are taught and encourage throughout the school in each curriculum area. Students are challenged and supported in their development of these skills.

Drama

A feature of the school ids a strong drama club. Two school productions are produced each year. Wentworth is also one of Auckland’s leading schools in the inter-schools “Shakespeare” competition. Supporting the drama programme is a strong debating department with teams debating against schools throughout Auckland.

Sports

A comprehensive range of sporting activities are on offer at the College.

  • Athletics, basketball, equestrian, golf, yachting, hockey, rugby, soccer, netball badminton, swimming, tennis, cricket, volleyball, rowing, multi-sports
  • International students are encouraged to participate in the sporting programmes.
  • Samuel Shin was the captain of our scholarship golf team. Samuel won the New Zealand under 19 golfing championship in 2006 and 2007. In 2007 Samuel competed in the USA Junior Golf Open.

Music

Music is viewed as the soul of the school; high importance is placed on participation and performed by our orchestras and choir’s. Students have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument whilst at Wentworth. Numerous events are held throughout the year for students to perform in front of an audience.
