Student House Leaders: Students that were nominated as House Leaders gave a short speech in their House meetings last week, outlining the strengths they felt they could bring to the role. All the students in their House then had the opportunity to vote for their choice of leader and this information assisted in the appointment of the following Student House Leaders for 2010:
Fleming House - Scott Williams & Annalise Coghlan
McDonald House - Rory Donovan & Stephanie Wyllie
Findlay House - Jazmin Hopper & Aaron Hutchison
Congratulations to the new House Leaders. I'm sure they will be very busy at Athletics Day on Wednesday, assisting with the organisation and fostering House spirit.

The Duke of Edinburgh programme encourages students to be accountable, to take responsibility (for themselves and others) and to improve their problem solving skills. Thanks to Mrs Cathy Worthy who accompanied the bronze camp this weekend.

Athletics Day: Students and staff are looking forward to Athletics Day on Wednesday. This is another opportunity for students to build on the excellent 'House' spirit shown at last week's Swimming Sports. Please ensure students come to school well prepared for a day in the sun. Parents and other family members are very welcome to come along and support their child.
Bruce Tong.
Athletics Day...
This Wednesday is our annual Athletics Day where students represent their Houses in a mixture of track and field events, with the first event commencing at 9:05am. Students may come to school wearing either school uniform, or their school sports uniform, or their House colours (not forgetting hats/caps, sunscreen, lunch and plenty of water). Students wishing to place lunch orders can do so in the usual way with the tuckshop opening during the first break in the competition at around 10:30am.
School Calendar...
The Term One calendar is now available for viewing on the website. Other terms will be added as soon as possible. In the meantime if you are starting to plan for holidays later in the year, 2010 Term Dates are available on the school website.
Contracting Dentists...
As most parents will be aware a dental service is provided free within New Zealand schools for children up to Year 8. From Year 9 until they turn 18 years of age, adolescents can continue to access free dental services through specific dentists who have contracted with their local Health Board to provide the service. A list of contracting dentists will be emailed to all school families from time to time, as updated lists are supplied to us by the Waitemata District Health Board.
HOUSEKEEPING :
Bus Fees: Invoices were posted home last week for all students who we are aware are regular users of the Wentworth bus service. If your child catches the bus but you have not received your invoice, please email Gail Clews in the school office ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
Sundry Invoices: Fee Statements will be posted this week to all school families, listing all the 'sundry' items that have been invoiced to your child since the beginning of the academic year. Sundry fees are anything other than Tuition and Bus Fees. So these Fee Statements will include things such as: subject workbooks (given to students by their individual subject teachers), homework diaries (handed out by Tutor Group teachers), swimming sports, 2009 yearbooks, lockers, camp fees... any costs that your child has incurred this year other than Tuition Fees and Bus Fees. Paid items will be clearly shown as 'Paid'. Please don't hesitate to contact Dianne Drew in the Student Support Office if you have any queries when you receive the Statement. Yearbooks: If you would like to purchase another copy of the 2009 Yearbook, please contact Dianne Drew in the Student Support Office.
2009 Whole School & House Photos: Order envelopes are available now from the Student Support Office.
Iron-on Name Tags: Please ensure all your child's school uniform items are clearly named, including shoes. For parents who are interested you can buy iron-on, waterproof name tags from www.nameit.co.nz, phone 0800-626.348.
