Cambridge International Qualifications

Cambridge International Examination Centre

Wentworth College became a Cambridge International Examination Centre in 2006. CIE is a non-profit organisation that provides international qualifications for students between the ages of 13 and 20. CIE has worked in partnership with ministries of education and qualification authorities for nearly 150 years. At present 170 countries offer this qualification system.

Senior students at Wentworth study IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) at Year 11 and AS (Advanced Subsidiary) at Years 12 and 13, with some students also continuing to A2 Level papers in Year 13.

CIE was chosen as the preferred examination system for Wentworth because of its:

  • In-depth curriculum
  • Clear learning outcomes and examination prescription
  • Internationally recognised status
  • Focus on teaching rather than assessments
  • Ability to cater for all students across the academic range

Wentworth students learn to sit examinations from Year 7 where small class sizes and specialist teaching has produced excellent results.
